Sai Ability design doc 1.0

Working on the relationship between Druid and sprite during combat

What do we want it to be?

Useful to the player

Satisfying and enjoyable to use abilities

Grounded in the forest setting and Celtic mythos

What don't we want it to be

Annoying or detrimental to the encounter

A disconnect between player and the abilities they are using

Random effects or trails that don't relate to the setting

Ability System 1.0

Ability1

Sprite hovers around the player character in loose orbit

The player presses the ability button to activate arrow (arrow glows obviously with energy)

The player fires the arrow at a target

On a hit, a circular beacon is spawned as the target for the ability (this could be on an enemy or an environmental piece

After a short delay, the ability (in the form of several homing projectiles) are launched out of the sprite (wherever it is) and home towards the target, exploding on impact and dealing damage for each projectile that hits.

Small projectiles could spawn in the form of insects or birds to ground them in the setting more.

Ability2

Sprite hovers around the player character in loose orbit

The player presses the ability button to activate arrow (arrow glows obviously with energy)

The player fires the arrow at a target

On a hit, the sprite then teleports above the hit location

It then transforms into the form of an aggressive animal, slamming down on the target, dealing AOE damage.

Ability3

Sprite hovers around the player character in loose orbit

The player presses the ability button to activate arrow (arrow glows obviously and sprite disappears)

The player fires the arrow at a target

Mid-flight, the arrow transforms into a charging stag/bull, colliding with all enemies and objects in its path dealing damage and launching them in its travelling direction.
